2026 is shaping up to be another big year for The Wedding Present. The band will be celebrating the 35th anniversary of Seamonsters with a new pressing, and tours of North America and the UK.

On March 27, RCA Records will re-release the original 10 tracks that made up Seamonsters on deep-sea blue BioVinyl. This lush re-pressing is considered to be a more environmentally sustainable way of pressing records since it contains no petroleum products. The LP is available for pre-order now.

The Wedding Present will then take to the road for Seamonsters 35 : A 35th Anniversary Tour Of North America, followed by spring and summer ‘Mixed Set’ concerts and festival appearances, including David’s annual At The Edge Of The Sea festival. Fans with Friday tickets will be able to see the first UK 35th anniversary performance of Seamonsters on August 7. The festival is now sold out, but you can buy tickets to view Saturday’s live stream, which will be available online until August 31.

David Gedge says: “After last year’s career-spanning set list to celebrate 40 years of the band, I’m looking forward to spending much of 2026 focusing on what many people consider to be our best album. I can’t wait to revisit these songs with Rachael, Chris and Stuart, and I know that they’re all excited about how this is going to sound live.”

Seamonsters will be back in the set list this Autumn, when The Wedding Present embark on a UK-wide tour. They’ll be playing the album in its entirety, along with other selected tracks from their extensive back catalogue. David has already promised that the band will be playing songs that were not heard on last year’s 40 tour.

The anniversary is a chance to revisit an album that was always going to be something special. After recording their first two albums, George Best and Bizarro, the band yearned for a different sound and started working with legendary engineer Steve Albini. After recording the single version of ‘Brassneck’ and the follow-up ‘3 Songs EP’, The Wedding Present travelled to Cannon Falls, Minnesota to record Seamonsters early in 1991.

The first real taster fans got of the new material was for a John Peel Session on BBC Radio 1, when the band previewed ‘Dalliance’, ‘Heather’ and ‘Blonde’ from the then-forthcoming album, along with future B-side ‘Niagara’. Peel himself said, “I’m seriously tempted to say this is the best stuff I’ve ever heard from The Wedding Present!” You’ll be able to read more about this, and lots of stories from the recording of Seamonsters, when the third volume of David's autobiography – Tales From The Wedding Present – is released later this year.

Seamonsters Track List:

Dalliance / Dare / Suck / Blonde / Rotterdam / Lovenest / Corduroy / Carolyn / Heather / Octopussy
